What is SERP?
From September 5 to September 11, 2022, SERP will be held: the European Battery Recycling Week organized by Eucobat .
Every year, the sector mobilizes for European Battery Recycling Week (EBRW). This is the 8th edition and an opportunity for Corepile and Screlec to remind people of the importance of sorting and to encourage the French to “Take up the Battery Challenge”.
According to our partner organization Corepile, 1 in 2 batteries is recycled.
As a reminder, out of 100 batteries, on average 15 batteries are thrown in the trash, 35 batteries are in use or stored and 50 batteries are recycled in France.
SERP is organized by Eucobat – the European Association of Battery Eco-Organizations.
The mission of this association is to ensure that used batteries are properly managed across Europe and that this waste is recycled under the best possible conditions, in order to protect the environment.
Eucobat represents the interests of national eco-organizations and provides a platform for cooperation, exchange of information and best practices in order to optimize the effectiveness of the activities of its various members.
With all these batteries collected, what can we do with them?
- With 3132 batteries you can build a bicycle frame.
- With 105 batteries you can make a saucepan.
- With 2 batteries you can make 1 can.
How do you recycle your batteries?
Step number 1, sort through your home and collect all your used batteries.
Step 2: Search our partner Corepile 's website for the place closest to your home to drop off your used batteries.
Step 3, the recycling organizations take care of the rest, you can find their recycling process on their website.
